Professional Background
My name is Tom Tran, P.E.
With a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Lehigh University, I have over 19 years of work experience in the field of civil engineering working for various engineering consulting firms. My work has involved mostly private land development projects and public roadway drainage projects.
I am a registered Professional Engineer in both Pennsylvania and Virginia and I am still a practicing civil engineer in Pennsylvania with my work being primarily in the area of land development engineering design.
The following is a summary of the kind of work I have had the opportunity to do throughout my engineering career.
1) Stormwater management design.
2) Stormwater drainage system design.
3) Erosion and sediment control plan design.
4) Grading plan design.
5) Floodplain analysis.
The Land Development Site
Having been a civil engineer and involved with directly helping others on a local level for as long as I have, I decided to create “The Land Development Site” to reach a much greater number of people who have questions about, and who are in search of general information about, the topic of land development.
My goal is to help mainly those who do not necessarily have a technical background but who could still benefit from learning about land development especially as it could relate to their own property. I plan to create and present content that is easily readable and understandable by many different kinds of people including those who are not engineers, surveyors, and land planners.
If you have read this far, I assume you still have an interest in reading about land development topics.
Here are some good starting points.
Be sure to check back often. I plan on adding new content at least every week or every other week.
Thanks for reading!
